Study Meeting on Museum and Museology

What does “Museology” mean? What is the background of the study, and what are the major subjects it currently tackles?
The Study Meeting on Museum and Museology is a gathering for free thinking on museums, where people interested in museums – whether or not involved in museums in their study or work – study together, have discussions and exchange information on these issues of interest.
It appears that trends inside and around museums as well as the directions of museum management theories and museology have shown a variety of changes over these years, though bit by bit. Such changes would represent the moves, in which museums endeavor to respond to the requests, expectations and occasional criticism they receive from the society or the research and education circles. It should be considerably significant for us, who live in the contemporary era, to continue observing and think over the moves.
The activities of the Study Meeting on Museum and Museology have gradually expanded in recent years, as it conducts exchanges with people outside the University who share keen interest in these issues in a similar way. We will continue our efforts to offer a venue for people with different backgrounds to think over the issue of how museums should be from various perspectives.
